Notes & Combos

this is a variation on the august 21 master 1 decklist posted by @TAKE_REKO on twitter. his list is 44 cards - it has 3 imperm and synchro rumble. imo, that is too much brickiness for not enough payoff. also, he ran a rank 3 xyz package for zeus while i'm playing a rank 6 package. that decision seems to me a matter of preference.

anyway, the basic concept of this deck is to access crimson dragon plays using the centurion engine if you open virtual world cards without having to spend your normal summon. let's say you get lulu + kauwloon. you would synchro summon auxila using laolao and stardust charge warrior, search and normal summon primera to add the field spell, then place trudea in the backrow. you can then synchro baronne using primera and your leftover virtual world bodies. next turn, you can use trudea and primera to synchro for crimson dragon. your minimum end board is pretty good: chuche, baronne, and a crimson dragon setup.

the centurion engine doesn't reduce your consistency that much. if you're including the centurion cards as non-brick openers, you could even consider it an improvement over standard virtual world. in a 40 card deck on turn 1, you have a ~86% chance to open either engine, a ~80% chance to open a vw hand, ~42% chance to open a centurion hand, and a ~33% chance to open both. while you are not going to be thrilled to open only centurion cards, at least you can put up crimson dragon and a phalanx. meanwhile, if you open a virtual world combo with it, your end board is going to consist of at least 4 interrupts: phalanx, crimson dragon, chuche, and a level 9 synchro (shenshen) or rank 3/6 xyz (totem bird, wollow). woooo!

does this seem win-more? yeah, it kinda is. a pure vw deck abusing rollback is still probably the best thing available to the archetype. but it's nice to have a gameplan that isn't just skipping your opponent's turn.

i havent been playing much virtual world recently but i always keep a stash of replays in my profile. most of these games showcase difficult situations: breaking boards going second or playing through maxx c going first. even though the replays are months old, you'll probably learn something if you're new to the deck.
