Notes & Combos

Hey there, #virtual-world deck helper Ayrie here.

The new set release gave VW many new tools to play with. This decklist showcases the most competitive of them: the PUNK engine. A single E-Tele or Ze Amin puts Hope Harbinger on your board and a Lulu added to your hand!

The combo works like this: (1) Search Foxy Tune with Ze Amin and activate Foxy Tune's effect to summon Deer Note from the Deck, then (2) Synchro for Dragon Drive, activating the following effects in sequence: (a) Chain Link 1 - Dragon Drive to search Lulu, (b) Chain Link 2 - Deer Note to revive Foxy, and (c) Chain Link 3 - Ze Amin to add 600 ATK to Dragon Drive. The above chain order should block Ash and Belle from ruining your combo. Afterwards, overlay Foxy and Dragon Drive for Hope Harbinger!

The remainder of the decklist is standard VW stuff. Make Beatrice, dump Zephyros, summon it back by bouncing Qinglong / Chuche / your normal summoned VW monster, synchro for Baronne. Dump Snow next turn. Standard end board is Shenshen + Baronne + Chuche + Snow. PUNK allows you to add Hope Harbinger to that setup.

Why not combine PUNK with Adventurer? Because the Adventurer engine takes up too much deck space to allow you to play 3x DRNM, which you need to stand any chance against Spright going second.

Because the PUNK engine guarantees you Lulu if it goes off, your mediocre hands become much better on average and you have a noticeably lower chance to brick (only 15% vs. 20% in Adventurer). Indeed, you have a 42.71% chance to open either E-Tele or Ze Amin going first. You also have a 39.43% chance to open with DRNM going second - the same chance you have of opening Rite or Enchantress in an Adventurer build. Difference is, DRNM outright wins you games going second, whereas Adventurer merely eats an interrupt for you.

Replays

As usual, replays are at ID 781-697-168.

Want to learn how to play VW going second? Use my replays as a template for how to react to awkward situations or multi-interrupt boards. Go play by play and ask yourself what you would do in my situation, then compare with my move. Try to find a better line (I sometimes make mistakes in these replays!).
