Notes & Combos

For this event I tried to go a different route for purrely by using a small kashtira engine instead of maxing out on handtraps. Initially I wanted to use the kashtira cards to get a better matchup against purrely/kashtira. I could use any kashtira name to go into ariseheart after a shangri-ira wich threatens zeus, while kashtira rebirth can banish purrely spells from the opponenets graveyard if they don't address unicorn immediately. In practice the engine was more useful to bait out handtraps like veilers and imperms for black cat as well as baiting Expurrely Noir spins.

In terms of matchup strength I didn't fight too many purrely players but I had a high win-rate against kashtira decks. Labrynth and Horus were terrible to go second into due to the lack of ash and other maxx "c" counters but those were matchups I was willing to lose since they're already difficult going second without making a significant amount of your non-engine backrow removal. The same applies to match-ups were I got maxx "c" into an established board. I think it's reasonable to not build around a 3 of when we can play into it fine going first. The lack of called by and crossout designator was also helped by the field spell protecting the black cat from the big handtraps like veilers/imperms.

As for the non-engine choices droll is for purrely/horus and can be normal summoned to play under secret village, but can be replaced by effect veiler. Imperm is good on the draw and is strong against black cat/unicorn. Ideally it would be an out to some floodgates but was only found against skill drains. Talents can take an ariseheart/affected Expurrely under field spell and threaten zeus. Red reboot was a late addition for labrynth which also counters purrelyleap and evenlys. Prosperity because the targets you can find off prosperity are much stronger due to the non-engine choices (Banishes are Prom Thrush, 1 beauty, downerd, Ariseheart, 1 Zeus, Ty-phon).

The extra deck has the standard cat ratio with nightingale + downerd. The second zeus rarely came up and acted more as a way to keep zeus in the extra after a unicorn banish. The second xyz rank 1 is flexible but I choose Prom Thrush since I don't think the sylvan xyz is better to make than nightinglae, as well as Prom Thrush being generic backrow removal. Ty-phon is better to have than not to, but it didn't get summoned often.

TLDR:Kashtira baits handtraps and the deck is made to be strong going 2nd into the actual xyz decks.
