Notes & Combos
Synopsis
Surpsisngly, R-Ace is very playable in the XYZ fest. Through the help of Kashtira as a side-engine, a diverse Thrust package, as well as one each of a rank-1, rank-4, and rank-8 toolbox, R-Ace can perform as though links never mattered at all.
Overview
The main contenders that matter in this festival are Kashtira, Purrely, and Labrynth, and this deck seeks to both play low to the ground if access to Turbulence isn't present, as well as through every last bit of potential interruption.
Kashtira being a premier threat usually makes for great hand-trap fodder, and if left unabated, can potentially convert into a very powerful floodgate that locks most other decks out of the game (even R-Ace itself... so be careful).
The thrust package seeks to enable massive amounts of extension with power spells. I'm not running Talents in this brew (at the moment) because with 55 cards, it's unreliable to have even 2x copies in hands that might occasionally not be able to go all the way, especially in a format where the most valueable tool for R-Ace is to either find Emergency or dump monsters into the GY with cards like Fucho or Nightingale (though it's very much a good option to run with Thrust regardless).
The rest of the maindeck lineup is pretty by the books, with the Sinful Spoils package enabling ample startup access for R-Ace, as well as rank-7 synergies for our Kashtira engine. This is also why I'm on Fire Engine, as its level does come up in many scenarios. Evenly is also there to clear any backrow-heavy or Kashtira board.
Extra Deck
The main point of our Rank-1s is to find a way to either access Turbulence by dumping copies of Hydrant into the GY to facilitate its summon in scenarios where we cannot find Air Lifter/Emergency, or Zeus to clear the board. Our Rank-4 toolbox is pretty limited to the Utopia OTK and Abyss Dweller (who's yet to come up at all), and the same applies to our Rank-8's apart from Lancelot, who's an omni-negate that can occasionally matter.
Our Rank-7 pool is in its own world entirely due to it being centralized mostly around our Kashtira cards, but Big Eye provides nice utility for both OTKs and removal.
Conclusion
R-Ace has genuinely surprised me with how playable it's been in this festival, and very few opponents have had answers ready for it. Best of luck trying this deck out, and hopefully we'll achieve just as much success in the 2nd stage!
