It's salads. Little knight and zealantis weren't really ever impactful in any way and droplet was too heavy a cost for this deck to make use of, so I opted for super poly as a going second option. It's good into tenpai and helps with voiceless, which were probably the most common decks I ran into. I tested violet chimera and it's a decent target for super poly, but moreso going first. Otherwise the climb didn't have many nibs cause that card is kinda cheeks on ladder rn.

My M1 Salamangreat decklist is inspired from a player named 夏美子1314 in Chinese YGO BBS (Baidu Tieba). He used this deck (almost the same) in last month and finally climbed to rating 1802. In November 1st, he also used a same deck to reach Master 1, becoming the first M1 player in Tieba. I think this deck is the answer of salamangreat in Tenpai format, it took me 3 days from D5 to M1 with a winrate over 60%

0 MaxxC and 0 Handtraps, except Ash: MaxxC is almost the worst card when you face Tenpai. Even if you face Voiceless and go 2nd, MaxxC won't be enough to bring you victory. Since MaxxC is no longer played in my decklist, the power of Impermanence and other handtraps are also significantly reduced, except for Ash of Blossom. So I remove them from my list.

12 counter traps: This list is notable for containing a large number of counter traps. Without a doubt, counter traps are always your most reliable option when going 1st. Solemn Judgement and Iron Thunder can protect your backrow from Duster and Lighting Storm. Solemn Judgement, Warning and Strike behave well in counter Tenpai and Ritual Beast, especially Judgement and Warining can negate the Normal summon of Tenpai, even after the activation of Sangen Summoning.

Counter traps can also help you cope with MaxxC and other handtraps form your opponent which can stop your combo. Stop and set counter traps is not a bad choice.

2 Flame Bufferlo: Bufferlo is a great normal summon starter if you put lots of counter traps in your deck. You can draw more powerful traps after you link Balelynx with it. Don't worry that you won't be able to complete the combo because you've discarded Lady Debug and Gazelle, Lynx + 2-3 contertraps can also stop your opponent in T2.

Bufferlo has other advantages. It behaves well in front of MaxxC, Psy Gamma and Dimension Shifter. Just draw and set your traps. Lastly, Bufferlo can be summon by Horse Prince. You can draw 2 cards instead of searching Ash of Blossom if she has been in your initial hands.

Very solid deck this season, lots of 1 card starters, good room for non engine, layered end board.

To go into the tenpai match up the deck actually does pretty well. Enough starters also serve as extension to play through handtraps. Hiita can steal ash, bident, or transcedent to prevent disruption going 3rd. Balelynx is very good against board breaker versions. Droplet doesn't matter too much cause disruptions comes from grave and roar can negate. Under maxx c if you don't have an answer you mostly have enough non engine or traps to survive turn 2.

Worst match up probabaly is ritual beast due to blind call fire by protos, I went 2-1 against them on my climb though. \nYubel is bad too due to destruction helping them, but almost no Yubel players right now.

Largely the same list as last month some minor ED changes. This deck has one of the better matchups against Tenpai without relying on floodgates. The reason being it has protection from destruction for all of your face up Salamangreat cards with Balelynx, has a searchable counter trap negate, and is very good at adding Ash to hand which is a great free way to stop Sangen Kaimen which is the biggest problem in my opinion. Its also pretty resiliant to handtraps which is integral in general. I will leave a replay as a general combo example and only explain unusual strats here.

Remember your Roar negate is a counter trap so opponents cant respond to it except with other counter traps which can shut down some enemy combo lines.

Also know that Salamangreat of Fire only locks you if it resolves successfully. If you didnt get to search with it you arent locked. Do play with that in mind

You can add Ash to hand by summoning it with Horse Prince and either bouncing it to hand with Miragestallio second effect or retreiving it from the gy with Sunlight Wolf second effect. Generally speaking I would only do this if I already have code of soul but there are some scenrio's where I would prefer Ash esecially in the tenpai matchup

So yes this is a weird deck thats never been tried before, but does it work? Yeah way too well. I dont like playing repeating decks so I made this abomination. I easily got 5 win streaks only losing to harpie's plus red reboot or lightning storm (by tempai) or bricking. So deck idea is salad is great at going first and synergizes well with alot of things as fire bodys are good, and striker is great at going second and give the deck gas salad couldnt really get.

I normally go first but its really good going first and second. Its a great advantage cause you can through engine break full boards and otk while having the option to almost whenever stop going for game and set up a board. I honestly am not sure if it should just be a pure going second deck but its good both ways.

Endboard is roar, wolf in emz, princess in grave, 1-2 widow anchors, bale raging and meowmine in grave, and 1-2 draws not to mention 2 or so other cards in hand. I dont play charge cause as an endboard piece it feels weak as you have to wait until the very end to use it after widow anchors and princess when at that point its best usage is past. I dont play s:p because I dont end on it nor do I use it turn 2/3 cause I just want to otk. I almost alway play salad stuff first to bait hts then if I have thrust, use weasel to give them a monster and search a spell which is always either talent or engage. You can get into ss stuff with link 2 and get back into them later with princess revive kagari again though at that point youve already won. I like ty-phon over anything else tbh, as zealantis is normally board clearing but ss engine plus salad engine does that good enough, and s:p locks out of otk, and phoenix isnt useful really, so ty-phon is just good to close out games. Debug is insane, I wouldnt replace it. Getting moewmine for 2 card combo plus gaz or full combo by itself is nice. Its good going second as people underestimate its boardbreaking abitlies but it also is fine if negated. Harpie's is good as neither engines are great on backrow so it rounds it out. Desires is good, play it and dont look back

Salamangreat best Deck!

Salamangreat competes fairly well in the Meta and is a solid rogue deck that requires decent piloting. For a deck that can be purchased for 1500 Gems with a few extra UR crafts, it performs amazingly.

Its grind game is phenominal, being able to constantly recycle monsters and handtraps like Ash.

Pyro Phonix is cuttable, but I like the field wipe gimmick

Flame Bufferlo > Lady Debug, The draw power is insane, and due to having to dump a Cyberse Monster, I opted to run max copies of Spinny.

End Board will end on Pyro Phoenix + Roar + Rage + Raging Phoenix and Princess in the GY. Your monsters are unkillable for 1 turn due to Baylinx being in the GY, and depending what you draw into with Flame Bufferlo, you'll have extra negates with Ash, Imperm and Ghost Ogre.

Deck fairs well against Tenpai, but luck does play into this.

A lot of the deck and tech choices can be changed and swapped out.

But yeah, gonna push towards M1, wish me luck

The most ez season I ever met.I got 20-6 in last 26 matches before reaching M1, only losing to Tenpai for 1 time from D3 to M5, and 2 or 3 times from M5 to M1. In Rating duels, I got 10-3 and climbed to 1555 quickly. The most powerful Anti-Tenpai weapons are always counter traps i think. Some tips about how to beat Tenpai have been shown under my Master 5 decklists. Here are Q&A time:

Q1: It is reasonable for cutting MaxxC into 1?

A1: That is OK. MaxxC is almost useless going 1st whether you faced Tenpai or not. It cannot stop your oppoent OTK you, especially you are playing a decklist with more traps and less handtraps. Eventhough you are going 2nd, other decks like Labrynth which is much more in this month cannot be stopped by MaxxC. If you are still worried about it, just change Ogre or Strike into second MaxxC.

Q2: You do not run PyroPhoenix so what is the endboard of this deck?

A2: The standard endboard of 2-card-combo is Relinked Wolf + RangingPhoenix on your board, Roar + Charge set on your backrow, Ash blossom in hand and Princess in GY. The endboard of 1-card-combo will shrink, may be RangingP + roar + Princess

Q3: You play 1 EMP without Mining or Spright Sprind. How do you get into it? It is worthy to making a Littleknight in your endboard for triggering EMP?

A3: I will search EMP by Debug only if I have Gazelle in hand. EMP is just a alternative of Code of Soul, usually a link material of Wicckid. I do not think Cynet Mining a good card because you will not want to discard Judgement or Strike to activate it.

Ususlly S:P will not be the one of my endboard, except you have Will in your hand. Without S:P, you can also trigger EMP by destroying Wolf with Princess in Turn 2.

The biggest enemy of Salamangreat is always going 2nd. Depending on the statistic data on ygom.untapped.gg, the winrates of salamangreat are 66.6% and 38% when it go 1st and 2nd respectively in Dimond and Master tier. 38% is even much lower than Stuns（40.5%） or Floowandereeze(44.3%), which makes me struggled. But Tenpai changes everything.

I got 16-3 from D3 to M5 after Tenpai comming, only lost 1 game in this matchup. Salamangreat behaves well in Tenpai meta. Boardbreakers such as Droplet, SPloy and Raigeki cannot hurt Salad at all.

Decklists:

I removed Code of soul and PyroPhoenix package. Somtimes there is nothing can be destoryed in Main Phase if you meet Tenpai. As return, now you can always search Ash by Horse Prince which can negate Kaimen or Paidra.

I also run 3 Solemn Judgment, to counter Duster, Linghting or Red Reboot. It is almost the best card when going 1st.

I cut 1 MaxxC and replace 1 Cosmic Cyclone by 1 Ogre. Ogre is a nice handtrap now and MaxxC is usually bad when you go 1st, no matter whether facing Tenpai or not.

Some tips for playing against Tenpai:

Destory Sangen Summoming with your Charge, expecially you set Imperm on the backrow. Without the protect of Summoning, Chundra can be destoryed easily by Princess in Main phase 1.
Use Ash to negate Kaimen or Paidra.
It is worthy to negate the Normal Summon of Tenpai by Solemn Judgment

Tried out VV this month and having alot of fun but still played Salad from D2 to M5. Took around 5-6 hours from D5 to M5

Some large changes from last month. The biggest is put in Zealantis. The main reason is its the best way to set up an OTK with this build. You kinda need a powered up raging to do so which Zealantis enables since it triggers princess assuming the opponent put something on board. If they dont you need to do your whole combo again which is easy as we add back fire but tedious. Zealantis also rearanges your zones which is super handy.

As for non engine switched in Ghost Ogres which seem to be better in alot of matchups. Added in 2 evenly matched cause im sick to death of full board Yubel and stun trash. Took out the veilers the decks you want them against get around them way too easily the only exception being beckoning beast but Ghost Ogre can pop the rest of Yubel Extension so not a bad trade. .
